Temporary would be good, something light and easy to put on and take off since I use my truck as a truck a lot.

If you have a garage or shop with some overhead space, it's not too tough to make a little pulley system for even a fairly heavy fibreglass topper/canopy. That can make it a one man job, although, it's always easier with two.

I'm in the process of selling my truck, and have realized that my canopy is scaring away buyers, so I'm taking it off and selling it separately.

Downgrading to a "recession fighter" econobox" for the winter while I work on starting a business. Only time I really need a truck is in the summer to haul my trailer around. By May if the business is successful, I'll probably be leasing a new truck. If it isn't, I can always get by renting a truck for the few weekends, as I have a family member who can get me excellent pricing.

Be sad to see that truck go, I'm one of the folks that has had zero issues with my EcoBoost. However, it makes a lot of sense to be driving something a few thousand pounds lighter when all it's hauling around is my butt and a briefcase.

Good day Nova Scotia, Morris, seventy, bernette, Ian and all who stroll through here..

Sounds like a good plan seventy.. Wishing you success in your endeavor..

Morris, I want one that has beds, kitchen and a water closet of possible.. They usually sit on jacks and you drive out from under them. Getting too old not to have creature comforts..

While all this makes complete sense I`m sure you`re going to miss your EcoBoost.
Steve, I`d want all of it too, creature comforts are a must.

Truck is gone, and I miss it already. .

But, I will have another one, I am sure of it. Was counting this morning and I have owned sixteen cars and trucks so far. I'm not as old as some of you gents either.

If the company makes any money, maybe it can buy my next truck. Dare to dream....

Good for you on striking out on your own! What line of work is it?
I`ve been self employed for well over 90% of my life, I took over the family farm then got into excavating with Bobcats. Althought at the start it may have been just a little tight I wouldn`t have it any other way.

Good evening NS, Steve, Ian, seventy and all who lurk here.
There are benefits to being self employed as well, while it certainly worked well for my life style it`s not for everybody. Some have a really hard time coming up with a suitable bank roll for start up while raising a young family.

I would honestly prefer to work for someone else. I've done that for a lot of years, and I don't mind it at all. Current state of the oil patch has found me with some time on my hands, and so I'm going to try my hand at entrepreneurship. I am finding out that there are some pretty solid benefits to this arrangement as well.

For those asking what the business is, it's a Petroleum Training service, but I've got a bit of niche picked out within that world, so assuming I have done my research correctly, I won't have very much competition for the little slice of the pie.

Its good to hear that even with the current state of the oil patch there is openings for self employment. Lack of competition is a good thing.

I hired myself, but so far, I'm not PAYING myself. That is tougher to arrange . . .
