My cousin wants 800 bucks for his 1994 F150 straight 6 extended cab long bed. Its 2 wheel drive, has 180,000 miles on it but it still runs strong. the tranny does occasionally "jump". The body is in great shape with very minor rust. What do you guys think? good/bad deal?
I want to use it as a good all around truck. I want to run my 94 camaro in the spring/summer. Then in fall/winter ill throw some weight in the truck and run it.
Oh...and we are unsure if the overdrive is working. The overdrive light doesnt come on... not sure if it kicks in. May be the reason for the tranny slip and catch.
well with the long bed you'll get used to driving it in no time, and you'll have al the room you'll need, if you or a friend ever moves you'll be glad you have it over a ranger or s10...
trust me i had a ranger...
but with the tranny messing up, id ver him 400-600 for it and show him the cash..
i had my ranger up for 1500 and the right person came along and waved 1300 under my nose and by the end of the day i had my '87 and riding the farm learning how to drive stick..

first off you should see a button on the right side almost right next to the steering column that says OverDrive cancel or OD Cancel if you press that THen an Over Drive light will come on BUT thats to indicate that you've turned the Over Drive function off not on. That said
with that mileage on it in as good of shape as you say it's in JUMP ON IT!!!!!!! Here take a look at my Photo Album for the "Old Guy" it's a 1990 Extended Cab new Truck or should I say Old Fart pictures by court1100f - Photobucket and it has between 225,000-325,000/no title so we have to deal with that. motors filthy and it has serious running issues missing/spitting,E4OD doesn't shift right,it was wrecked in the front bad enough to need to replace the front clip the passengers side door is also ruint the Electric door locks don't work can't even open the passengers door from outside the truck you have to reach across from inside to open it,the rest of the bodys EH so so etc. and we payed $300.00 for this truck the one you describe sounds to be in pretty damn good condition so is WELL worth the extra 500 over what we paid for that over the hills worn out Fleet truck thats Gotta rebuilders/salvage title and was registered in a natural disaster designated area
Dude it's well worth it. that motor in that truck is capable of 400,000+ thousand miles my 87 though parked right now for fuel system issues has 475,000 miles and ran perfect when I parked and still as verified by 3 different shops and my Double ASE Certified uncle as having factory compression. all I've had to do is regular maintenance. check the kelly blue book online. that trucks worth over 1100
Edit just ran the kelly blue book with the limited info available and it appears based on your description of it,it's condition it's actually worth $1,640
well that $1,640 was what your trucks worth here in Tx in Good not excellent condition, but to answer the fuel economy question when my 87 was on the road with a C6 auto NO overdrive with a 2.73:1 axle ratio I got 18-19MPG Hwy depending on crosswind. With an E4OD and a 3.08:1 or a 2.73:1 probly 20-22MPG on a good day with no head or cross wind but it all depends on gearing BUT I've read on here numerous times about people with 3.55:1 Axles getting 18MPG Hwy these are pretty easy on gas as far as trucks go and can pull down a house if need be
