Smile just for future refrence

just for future reference if your doing your intake plenums, especially on the passenger side, don't fret once you get to the very front bottom bolt by the hpop res, just grind down a boxed end 10mm wrench so it will fit in there to crack it loose and then the plenum slides out from a slot because the bolt doesn't actually come out, the clearance is terrible in there!!

also, be very generous with the silicone! if you happen to bend the super crappy tin piece of metal that it is, it wont seal 100% so be careful

i had a HUGE boost leak that Ive been hearing so i finally investigated it and i couldn't hold any air once pressurized. front passenger side plenum had a massive leak. i could only pump out 24lbs of air and it was really laggy getting on the the throttle lately. so i will report back tomorrow and see what she reads for boost this time. if this doesnt seal right im gong to be a very angry man LOL that was not a fun quick process.

One more bit of advice I read about here. Before you put the silicone on, slide the plenum in place a couple of times so you get the hand of it without leaving a trail of goop everywhere.

any one know if the driver side is possible with the turbo on? i might do this just for the heck of it, if the passenger side was bad i can only imagine the driver side might not be far behind..

i put 3 inch intake on mine and i had a little trouble with that same bolt you did. on the drivers side is easier to do. i think the high presure oil line is in the way

thanks! i was wondering how the driver side would be, yeah i just loosened up the bolt and it slid right out. not too bad of a job, i ended up removing the fuel and oil line, no biggy.

on the other hand, how do you like your 3" plenums? any noticable difference, egts, boost, responsive pedal?

Steve, sitting here in my recliner I don't recall that the plenum came that close to the hpop? Jacob, like Steve, I would be very interested in the results of the 3" plenums!

The 3" plenums won't make much of a difference. They will provide more air volume to the cylinders and let it breathe a little better b/c your not going from 3" IC pipes to 2" plenums, but it doesn't make much of a difference. Might help lower EGTs a little and maybe a couple horsepower.

I would imagine the difference you'd see depends alot on what else has been done.
But in the end the main problem with air flow on the 7.3 is in the heads themselves.

I assume you mean PITA because you have to take the turbo off? I'm going to take my turbo off soon and was at the same time put these plenums on.
