Hydroboost/steering Problem?
I have been working on a friends truck trying to solve a VERY intermittent power steering problem. The truck is an F350 Super Duty 4X4 7.3 diesel crew cab dually. So far I have replaced the balljoints, tie rods and drag link, power steering gear box and pump, flushed the steering and hydroboost with fresh ATF and the right front wheel bearing/hub. The problem I am having is while driving 40-60 MPH the steering wheel jerks back and forth almost like a pressure fluctuation? Seems there is a quick loss of power assist at times. Is it possible that the hydroboost spool valve is intermittently sticking creating a jerky steering wheel while driving straight? Like I said the symptoms are very intermitent. Any ideas would be very appreciated. Thanks.
