Thanks for the intro...and I look forward to meeting a few of ya in the area. Not sure how many times a year everyone get's together?
I just got the Bronco...so she will be getting worked on quite a bit over the next few months...(fund permitting anyhow). Waiting on a quote from an engine builder right now...time to warm this motor up. She is pretty tired with 207K on it. We will see what becomes of it...anyone have any history with putting an RV cam in their 351W?

On a side note....any hunters in the FL chapter?

See ya on the forum.

Welcome to the forum and to the chapter. I did a little bit of hunting 2 or 3 years ago but seasoned I am not. Where abouts are you located?

Welcome Bro. Another Bronco owner here. Also, hunting, I get out when I can which isn't much but I just love being out there whether I get anything or not.

RV Cam, not yet. I have a relatively new 300 in mine(83K) and might do one down the line.

Yeah.... not too familiar with the 351w yet... but I do know that it has a lot of potential. I'm not taking it down the 1/4 so... pretty much going with a reliable build...and building for torque. The engine builder mentioned an RV cam...and was not sure if this was "the thing" to do with these motors..taking the above into consideration.
I guess that ordering the build sheet on this Bronco from Ford would be a good start. From what I gather...there were a few different options available for these...trans, rear, motor, ect... can vary from model to model. Looks like this one has "all the right stuff" for building off of....so we will see.
I thought about ordering a motor from Jasper and being "done" with it... but there is a perfect block in the truck...so why not build off of it. I'm in no hurry...so I will wait to see what the builder and I come up with when we sit down and go over the build details.
Find a nice set heads, cam (roller?), intake, headers/exhaust, (.30 over?) would be great.
I do not plan on forced induction, blower, spray on this truck...but would like to get at least 400rwhp/450tq out of it....not sure if that's asking too much out of the 351W? The trans will be getting done with the motor...so that should not be an issue.
Time will tell.
Thanks for the welcome.

What year Bronco do you guys have? I have a 71 with a 351W pushing around 600hp.

It is not hard to get 400hp out of 351W. An RV cam is a good mild cam to put in the motor. My first rebuild had a RV cam in it and I was very happy with it.

But, with a 300 you dont break axles that much. The 300 was a great engine.

Mines a 1995 XLT... and that's good to know that getting 450hp/tq to the wheels is not a problem. That's about good in my book...for above stated problems....don't want to start snapping stuff....not that I plan on ******* this one. It's a DD, and need freshening up. Right now...it will stall when put into reverse...not sure why. I read somewhere the trans filter may have dropped? Not sure...but regardless...with 207K on her... I feel pretty comfortable rebuilding the motor and trans. Anyone have the link on how to get the build sheet from Ford?

Oh I know and wouldn't have any other motor in my Bronco. I'm not quite a 300 Fanatic but, it would be nice to get a few more horses and especially more torque from it like the Carbed guys can.

I'll do ya one better, I got the e-mail for it. You'll need your full name, mailing address and VIN number. They'll snail mail it to ya but for free, can't complain.

Sweet! Thank you very much. that will help me out a lot.
Truck certainly has it's quirks...stalls when i put it into reverse... and if I come to an abrupt stop...will stall as well. Other than that... i can't complain too much since she has 207K on the odo.

Edit: got the stalling issue resolved...trans fluid was low. Anyone have any tips on replacing the PCV....now that's a PITA to get to.
