Welcome Ruben! I see in your Avatar it looks like you've got a 79 4x4. What are your problems and where are you located? I'm pretty good with the old trucks, so I can help ya where I can.
Bought this ol 79 F250 on a whim a month or two(damn its been that long?? lol) ago, and been working on it ever since.
Just cant get it to run worth a damn. New double roller timing chain, fixed a bunch of little things, new ignition module(silver box), took carb off today(its in great shape), new batt, wiring, blah blah blah.
Went to work on it today but the batt was dead and I couldnt get next to it to jump it, so i'll go mess with it again tomorrow. Found another vacuum link so hopefully it runs finally! If not then its a new reman distributor from advance auto as a last resort.
If it doesnt run after that then i'm tearing the motor out and putting the first diesel engine I can get my hands on into it. Would prefer a DT360, but those arent always easy to find!!
Sorry for the rant :P I know alot about powerstrokes if anyone needs help with them
What motor is in it? Is the problem that it just won't start now? I live up in Springfield so it wouldn't be much for me to take a ride down and give it a look see if you want. I'm racing down in Stafford this Saturday, so the earliest I could swing by would be Sunday or anytime next week. Lemme know.
It has a 400 in it. There was a car parked next to it is the only reason I couldnt jump it today.
Last I worked on it a few weeks ago it was starting and idling, but couldnt get the timing below 20* without it dieing. The idle also wouldnt get below 1000rpm...but I think I fixed that today with the vacuum leak discovery.
So maybe with a properly tuned carb it will idle correctly, then I can time it down to where its supposed to be.
I normally work sundays, but have this upcoming sunday off.
