what motor is it

Recently purchased a 62 ford F100. Was told the motor that is in it is a 302 out of a 85 mustang. Is there any way to tell being I’m no motor man. Also was told that is had a C10 transmission and I have never heard of it. Can anyone help?

look or the casting number on the block, above the starter either in a flat surface durectly above it or in the webbing. should be a four digit / letter combo.

The sticky at the top of this forum will decipher it for you. Worst part is getting the number. Usually involving pulling the starter to see it.

Post a picture of the front/top of the motor along with the block casting number.
