I made the goal of posts and have not been around to help. Sorry!
I am turning into Eric, just with tractors and not trucks. I bought a Allis B last night. More of a parts tractor, but has two brand new rear tires that are not even mounted, so $500 is not that bad.
I think we started out at around mid forties, this morning.
I have all the tractors I want without having to maintain them. My FIL has all IH, with the exception of a JD400 loader/backhow.
Actually, I'd love to get myself a smaller Farmall with mowing deck and hydraulic lift drawbar. We have both available. But, I would love to have my own to restore and tinker with.
I stalled long enough on purchasing the donor truck for Fungus that it got sold out from under me. Sortof a relief.
So, if I decide to pursue restoring that truck, this is what I know of as being in need:
Repair or replace engine. Doesn't run. Missing carb, at least. I have a 460 that should run, but isn't tested, that I can drop in. Current engine is 351w.
Repair or replace Dana 70 rear axle. DRW p/u. Both axle shafts are broken, rear cover is missing. I'd assume that I would need to replace just about every moving part and all bearings. It would probably be easier/cheaper to find a donor axle. Although, they all seem to be SRW or cab and chassis versions.
Assume all four brakes need replacement.
Replace dash cover, front and back seats, three vent windows, windshield.
Replace all six rims and tires and all lug bolts. I have a pair of decent tires and non-split rim dually rims from my 78 cab and chassis. So, that leaves four to acquire.
Steam clean or replace carpet.
Spray in bedliner
Replace receiver for towing
I'm still thinking I can do most or all of this and keep the truck under $2k. But, who knows?
