replacing Intake manifold
I believe that its just a vacume leak somewhere on the intake manifold. I have a wieand stelth to put on it.
ok so the van had a fuel injector and turbo kit, and had sat for several years when I bought it, the fuel injection went out so I ripped it off and put a carb on it and ran the engine N/A untill I get the bugs worked out...
Iv been told that the intakemanifold may be strictly for fuel injection thats why the new manifold.
Now beacuse I dont have a book on this engine, and have never really worked on a windsor before so I would like some pointers... and the turbo literaly almost sits ontop of the rear of the intake manifold so Ill have to remove the distributor to pull the manifold.
Is there enough room in the Echonoline to pull the disturibtor??? or would it be best to unbolt the turbo and exhaust and droop it down to pull the manifold???
What about torque values? and pattern??? and torque for the distributor?
What do I time it to whe I put it back togather? and what about the this turbo? require any special timing???
If there is anything I left out let me know, or if you need anymore info...
any help is apreciated
thanks
J
So, are you going to do a blow-through carb, or a draw-through?
EFI would have made the most sense....not that hard to figure it out, compared to a carb and a turbo, imo.
Anyway, tightening info here, from the top of this forum:

Your distributor is in front, it should come out.
Timing? You'll have to figure that one out, start with 10 degrees btdc. Be careful, if you are doing a draw-through carb turbo set up you can blow the whole thing up with a misplaced spark.
As for the engine, you can find several books on the W motors, I suggest you get one if you are going to live with this motor.
With the turbo where it is, you might be able to pull the manifold, but installing it again would be another story.
Have you used WD40 or carb cleaner to try to find the leak?
I dont really plan on keeping the van, I belive that it is possesed (have had alot of bad experiences while working on it, and so have the last 2 previous owners), and besides its an automatic tranny, and well I despise autos...
I was wondering about the distributor beacuse its in a van and the engine compartment is right over it...
Ill take a couple pix of the turbo setup it a little bit, when it warms up outside...
It only starts with the irratic idle and extreme lack of power after it has warmed up and been driven for about 2 miles. ANd by then after bairly limping it home I had no intrest in further messing with the engine, probly should of tryed the WD40 thingy, but I just dident feel like it...
)I wouldn't buy ANYTHING with an aftermarket turbo on it.
Sell the turbo stuff, you'll find some rocket scientist that thinks he can do in an afternoon what has taken multi-national corporations 60+ years to almost perfect......
Iv though about pulling the turbo, but that would just require me teaching myself how to weld exhaust, and buy some exhaust tubing...
I only payed 800 for it, and still under 90,000 miles... And it has one sweet interior, Oak trim, purple and gold upolstry, built in ice chest, compartment for wine bottles and glasses...
I couldent go wrong... ExceptI dident relise that it was possesed, and mom's B/F dident tell me till after he signed over the title...

See what I mean about the turbo sitting ontop of the manifold?!? Its like who's bright idea was this??? but it worked for years untill the fuel injection computer went out...

Or will I get away with a different computer and use my 4 existing injectors and plate???
Any sugestions???
