I was looking at some BFG's but a friend of mine recommended the General Grabber AT's and I'm thinking about them. About $140 per tire for my size through Tire Rack compared to the $180 or so for the BFG's I want. I haven't ever run Generals, but those that posted reviews really like them.
I like the American Prospectors AT's (made by Cooper) I put on my Expy. They cost me 540 mounted & balanced. So far they handled really good on wet roads too.
Chris - I had a somewhat bad experience with Bridgestone, how do you like yours so far?[/quote]
So far so good, the rating are very good and all that posted about were good so figured I'd give them a try. They performed very well last winter on the Expy. I did spring for the Michelin A/T2's on the Excursion, but I wanted the best tire (in my demented mind) I could for towing.
Scott - I may have to look into those a little deeper too before I buy. I can afford the BFG's but saving a few bucks and still getting a quality tire is never a bad thing.
Every shop is different with pricing, but I got mine in Westminister MD and the people seemed really easy to deal with. They also beat some of the other dealers by $100+.

I had the Bridgestones on my last Ranger and they just didn't seem to work out well. Wore out very quickly (under 20,000) and didn't seem to have the kind of snow traction I expected from them. Maybe a bad set...hard to say.
Thanks for the link Scott - I'll check into that a bit more. Not sure who may carry them up this way but if that's the route I go, I won't mind driving a little to get them.

Gotta purchase what your comfortable with that's for sure, I just know I did like the Goodyear Wrangler that came on the Expy- wore like crap.
