1996 F150, 302, E4OD, 4X4. The rear of two catalytic converters has rotted out, like most of the exhaust. Gotta love Minnesota salt Anyway, it's time for a new one. What i would like to do is install a dual side exhaust in front of the rear tire, passenger side. I can weld, so making up my own would not be to much of a problem. So, what would you all recommend as far as a muffler and tips. The exit is 3" where i cut it off. I do not want something really load, but a healthy deep tone would be nice. Pictures would be great. Thanks in advance.
a little rumble at a stop light and pretty quiet at highway speeds. Do yourself a favor and get a single high flow cat while you are at it... Adding headers would be even better to add extra HP!
I have a Magnaflow muffler and I HATE it-under normal driving it's fine, but under a load the drone in the cab is so loud you can't hold a conversation or hear the radio. But, my truck is a 460 and has no cat, so it'll be louder than yours.

460 BB can really push the exhaust... Where is the muffler located? I usually try tp put mine a little further back than stock; just before the bend to go over the axle... If you have room and want to kill the drone put a high flow cat in.
Thanks guy's. High flow cat, Magnaflow muffler to a 'y', 45' out to two Summit tips. I like it. Headers later.
Sounds good. Post up some pics
Here is mine. Sorry no good pics.

this is the same plan i have to do on my '96 except i want to do slantcut tips and line them up to match the body line, and i may get some exaust shop glasspacks on it.
is it true that exaust shop glasspacks are quieter than a set like you would get off summit?
