thanks, right now im still young (17 today)
so i want as loud as possible i just do not want straight pipes with no cats or mufflers... my friend has a '76 f150 hedman loungtbes, true duals, and glasspacks he busted so its pretty much straight piped... to me it sounds good up close and when hes driving by slowly but if he revs it up when your driving away, or when your at a distance from it, it sounds like someone blowing their nose...

but right now my only "long distance" trips are about 30-45 min trips..
and my longest planned is to take it to st augistine when summer rolls around next year (i'm in valdota ga) so its about a 2-3 hour trip.. so i dont care how annoying it will get or how loud it is for now i just want loud..

Happy birthday bud!

I went through that too. I ran open longtube headers on my 86 302 for 6 months. It was fun but after a while it got annoying.

I got to have fun again when I cut my cats off and drove my Lightning for 2 days until I went to the exhaust shop. Anyways being paranoid about being pulled over gets old though. What you should do is get a good medium sounding exhaust and get some cutouts. So when you want to raise hell you can but if you want to quite down some just cap them off.

I ran true duals no cats with small glasspacks on my 86 before and it sounded pretty good but I got tired of the poppy raspy sound.

well cut-outs are a thought... but for now i think im just going to take it to the exaust shop, tell my guy where i want it to exit, and tell him i want it loud.. he's never failed me before.. plus, i really want to get it all dont under 300-400 bucks

what would be a good choice muffler for the side exit? considering how loud i want it
i was thinking 2.5" pipe would be plenty..

I would run dynomax bullets for a loud exhaust.

I did two of each of these just recently.

Flowtech 50052FLT
Amazon.com: Flowtech 50052FLT Raptor Turbo Performance Muffler: Automotive

MagnaFlow 54956
Amazon.com: MagnaFlow 54956 Universal Catalytic Converter (Non CARB compliant): Automotive
According to two magnaflow techs (call their info line twice), one of these cats are good to run in place of both of the stock cats. I did two, b/c the emission techs here in AZ are morons!!!

The exhaust shop I took my truck to, thru the tips in for free!

Anybody tried the Dynomax VT muffler yet?
Dynomax Performance Exhaust | Mufflers | Dynomax VT Muffler
I like the sound of the Magnaflow, but the drone kills me-I'd like something that doesn't drone but wont kill off my power.

i think im going with 2.25 pipe frome the manifold out, no CAT, true duals, a 18" cherry bomb, side exit, with 3.5" tips angled to match the body line.

sound good?

Here is another vote for Magnaflow. Mine does not drone. I think I know what he is talking about though. Any non stock or louder muffler that is louder than stock will most likely make a little more sound under load.

That will be louder than what you have now. What Magnaflow do you have? Is it short or long and do you have cats or not?
