First. I am about 30k into this set of tires and in the inner shoulders are showing some feathering. I had aligned the truck prior to the new tires and the suspension is tight. Could my front leafs be the culprit. Just curious because when I go over a bump at higher speed that is when I notice the road noise due to the feathering.
Second. Is there any way to disable the door ajar light? I can't track down where my wiring has failed and I am tired of looking at it.
Third. Anyone have any luck repairing their overhead trip gauge. Mine quit working and I just hate dropping $170 for a new part.
I'm running 265/75/16 terra grapplers and have noticed they are getting louder, but I don't have the wear problems you speak of. They have just over 30k on them.
I would get the alignment checked again. Also check all front suspension parts unloaded. As to the door ajar light, I would suggest a GOOD dose of silicone spray at each door latch (that is where the switch is) and also at the tailgate doors. It may take a couple of times doing it, mine took twice, but that should last for many years.
You say the suspension is tight... But, to me, it sounds like your ball joints might need replacing. A front end alignment with bad ball joints is like drinking decaffeinated coffee or NA beer... worthless.
If your X is past 75K miles, you probably need new ball joints. Mine went around 68K and the same was true for my 99 250SD.
