Know what? I never will think much of a biker that can't fix his own pony anyhow.
Some things yeah - japanese bike trannies are like sewing machines. But chains and carburettors are no-brainers.
Fixed...weird fix.
The guy came here today and said sorry..they are yours. I reminded him that Friday is the day..he said it could be December Friday. He can't make it. I was amazed that he stood up.
I feel bad...but I'm not going to cave as I always have before.
I have to feed the dog..she eats tires.
I couldn't imagine not being able to come up with $900, I'm sure the guy doesn't feel good about it either and it shows good on him to have come to you to tell you he won't be able to make it.

Thanks for the input all.
If thats truely is a CM-400 from the 1980`s (looks alot like mine) how much would you take for the whole bike. Been thinking and think it might be better to get that one that was worked on and use the one I have for parts.
Could be he just decided to cut bait but, he should never have written a hot check.
Just out of curiosity....Are the bikes worth the total repair costs?
Honestly I dont think he would get $800-$900 out of both of those bikes selling them straight out.
The dirtbike being a old used model even if it was repaired or totally overhauled I doubt people would spend more than what they can get a brand new dirtbike for. Down here theres a nice one being sold used guys askng $600 and it just wont sell.
Now that CM400 (I think thats what it is) you could potentially get some good money for it but most people dont want such a little bike as that. Only reason I would be interested personally is either to use it for parts for mine or to use mine for parts for that one.
Rusty.-kw..I was offered $1100 for the CR250r before I had the swing arm redone...just on engine running. It's a scary fast, yet fun. Rides like a saddle on baby ducks that go from 0 to 50 in a nut kick.
The CM400Custom, 1981..I won't tell you the offer, it scared me. Apparently there are Honda girls(not a derogatory) that kill for those bikes. Easy for small riders to run. I didn't hate riding it for 50 miles. I was surprisingly comfortable for a cripple. Easy at stop light, signs, in traffic. As a past Harley owner..I'd ride the bike.
They weren't mine to sell at the time though.
I'm going to sell them, take my $900 and give the guy the left over. He has kids. He's laid off.
I never wanted the bikes..I just didn't want to get beat.
Actually....I'd like to keep the bikes...I'm a Capitalist pig.. I like toys, but I could never do justice to them.

Now your getting personal damnit! LOL! And to think I said something about a Yankees fan. Next thing you know, cats and dogs will like each other, world hunger will cease..........
