yes or no?

I was underneath my current Ranger ('99 - kind of new to me) changing oil, etc., seeing if I need to grease it like I did my older one ('97) and some of the steering and suspension parts - I don't know what they're all called down there - have grease fittings and some have a little rubber cover over a small hole. I've heard : "just grease the fittings forget the rest - if there's no fitting it's all set for life from the factory" and "remove the rubber covers/plugs, put in fittings, and grease". Even the mechanics at the local dealer say both things.Who do I believe? Do I grease where the covers are or not? Do I do nothing or something? Please let me know. Thanks ahead of time. steeranger

To do it right there needs to be a grease fitting. Yes, ford called them lubed for life. I can tell you in fact thats bull****. The real answer is to either disassemble, tap and add fittings (I would not recommend), or to replace all the parts as they wear with new units that have the grease fittings in them.

I am dealing with it right now. My front end is making some nasty noises, not a fitting to be found anywhere.

No, never greased mine, never heard of anyone greasing theirs.

Unless you change out parts, then grease them
