Hey all, I have a 2006 F150 without a tow pakage. I just sent my wife in for a trailer hitch. Are all trucks wired for trailer wiring or am I gonna have to get a t conector to run my 4 pin flat plug?
Well, in case anyone was wondering a 2006 f 150 without a tow package does come with the 4 pin harness installed at the factory. Hitch is on and so is the 7 pin adapter, now it is ready to double as the moving van......
Ive wondered that as well. My 08 Screw 5.4 came with the 4 pin but i dont have a tow package. I am thinking about ordering a Class IV (4) hitch to install. Do we have to install a different plug such as the 7 pin. And also what about the tranny cooler does it have to be upgraded. Sorry im not meaning to hijack the post Ponyboy. Thanks for everyones help!

Depends on what you are towing. If it is going to be a small trailer then you will not need a different pin out on your trailer connection as you will not have trailer brakes.
If your trailer is going to have brakes. You are going to need a trailer brake controller, a 7 pin connector on the truck, and a relay for the fuse box. Depending on what the weight of your trailer is, you might want to consider getting an auxiliary transmission cooler in order to keep the temps down.
