I just ordered an Insight CS from Thoroughbred Diesel. They say free next day air so I guess I'll get it on Thurs.? Anyway,I have a few questions. What all do I have to do to get it "set up"? I want to read all the "good stuff". ECT,EOT,Tranny Temp.,Voltage,Boost. EGT probe will be coming soon. (money is tight). What else should I monitor? Any advice or tips on set up will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
I use the analog and monitor EOT and ECT on the left and right to make sure it is close to the same. I monitor EGT on the middle but the EGT display has been freezing so have to call Tech Support. I also set alarms for everything else and assume they will alarm even if they are not displayed but not sure.

Obviously I can't comment from personal experience, but I read here on FTE that the alarms do work even if it is not one of the displayed parameters. I think you're good there.
Also, what exactly do I have to monitor to keep an eye on FICM voltage? Is it just monitoring voltage in general and making sure it doesn't get too low,or is there a reading from a particular sensor that is to be monitored? I have read on here that you could tell if/when your FICM was going south and I would like to know how to that as well.

The only voltage is for the battery I believe. I am just going to check mine occasionally using the test procedures in the 6.0 tech folder.
My Insight CTS was plug and play, just put it into the OBD port and it turned on and worked like a champ. Menu navigation is pretty intuitive on Edge products, you'll have it entirely figured out in about 4 minutes without reading the manual.
they have you plug it into your computer first to check for updates ,, yours is likley coming directly from Edge ,, they are offering free next day ,, and mine was next day at 7pm lol
this is a no brainer device so don't overthink it before it arrives ,, also for the price of the proprietary EGT probe you could do a stand alone for that and free up a display on the CST
ps almost any back up camera will work ,, so don't spend $300 for theirs
This sounds like it is going to be easier than I thought. I thought I had to enter info about what type of truck i have and have to enter codes or something for certain parameters. What are all the letters and numbers folks are posting on here to try to get certain parameters to work?
that is probably for tuners ?
the insight will ask a few questions when first plugged in but it's plain english
this is easier than the original insight IMHO and pid's are easy to change from the display
do you have a mount yet? it comes with a basic one but for $11 they sell an adapter so you can use the original insight pod mount ,, thats the road I took
I had to enter my vin # on my CTS to get the PID's we monitor, after an update from Edge. I went with the EAS EGT probe so I can add fuel pressure and any other ones they release in the future.
Ya when you plug it in just select Ford and it then reads the VIN etc and you are good to go. Then just set the alarms for the temps in the post above. I printed the numbers off of Bismics post about 5x6 inches and keep it under my console clamp between the seats so I can just glance at it.

I bought the CS model not the CTS,but I am going to explore some alternate mounting options once I get the unit in my hand. I read that the CS came with a suction cup mount similar to a GPS mount so I can use that until I decide EXACTLY what I want to do about permanent mounting. I have thought about the over the rear view mount or something under the dash that is not out in plain sight all the time. (DAMN THIEVES) Thanks for all the help!!
