EOT too low or is it something else?

Just got finishing my gauge install, (ECT, EOT, EGT, Fuel Pressure). After the install it awhile for the EOT to start registering, but after about 10 miles or so it stated to come up. My ECT reached 188, but the EOT stopped at 155. Why? Here is a pic of the EOT sender I installed.

As you can see I used the OEM cap. After I tapped the whole for the sender I measurred the clearance after the cap was installed. I had about 1/4" before the sender would touch the spring. The gauge is Glowshift. Could the sender be bad ir the gauge? I am at a loss. Please help.

Do a boiling water calibration.

If it reads 100C corrected for your altitude, then, it is probably right in the higher temperature range.

Off hand, I think the temperature is about right measured there.

The oil is after the sump, oil pump...

The hottest oil temperature is recorded as the oil drips down but before it hits the sump.

Hence most Oil temperature senders are placed in the sump.

Your sender is way away --- giving it a lot of opportunity to cool before you take the reading.

So where can I install my sender for the best temps recordings?

What are you trying to achieve?

What is the data used for?

Read the reading from the built in sensor --- that is what the factory spec for difference refers to.

The reading from your sensor is not valid for that purpose, because by the time the oil makes its way up to the cap, it has cooled.

I think (am not certain) the factory sensor is reading at the oil pan.

Actually the factory sensor is located on top of the oil cooler. But thanks. Wandering where and how are others getting there readings from there gauges.

I know many people (me included) are using gauges like the Edge Insight or others that connect to the ODB-II port and read the stock sensors.

That is actually the way I would monitor EOT/ECT differential.

Because the factory "band" is only valid for that method.

I would take the reading from there for ECT/EOT differential purposes.

It is not the hottest point.

That would be: oil as it comes off the exhaust valve stems / seat, and oil that is being scraped of the cylinder and dripping from under the pistons.
