Installing a T5 trans from a 92 mustang in my 53 f100 and want to use the clutch cable with the stock 53 clutch pedal. Does anyone have idea and or pictures on how to adapt the pedal to pull the cable. Thanks
What engine you using? If it's stock, I highly recommend NOT using the cable. I have a perpetually sore leg from using the clutch in my '94 Mustang, it is a really poor setup and has easily 2x the force needed of my stock '52 clutch. It wears out cables at the rate of one a year. There are adapters for the T5 that retain the stock clutch and with your '53's engine mount arrangement that would also eliminate the need for a new crossmember. If you aren't using the stock engine you might find it easier to make up a hydraulic system using the concentric release bearings of later Mustangs. (Costs $$$ tho)
Thanks for the reply. I have a 302 HO motor in the 53 now with the original 3 speed and am looking for smoother ride with the T5. I could use the existing clutch setup I have now but will have to use the old bellhousing and an adapter plate for trans, which I was trying to avoid. Was hoping someone has rigged up an easy way to adapt the cable to the original pedal. I see a few companies selling a kit for the early mustang hanging pedals but not for through the floor pedal. Any Ideas?
