Sooo... It's been about a week of me fooling around driving back and forth to work enjoying my new exhaust: MBRP 4" Turbo back to Dual Black 5" Miter Cut Stacks.
Needless to say it's been fun alebit I'm sure a little annoying for my apartment complex neighbors with me leaving at 6:30 in the morning. (seriously though I try my best to idle my way out of the parking lot... no complaints yet!)
First impressions were: HOLY $HEET! IT SOUNDS LIKE A BIG RIG! as sooon as you apply ANY pressure to the throttle the turbo begins to spool and OH GOD does that sounds good!
Before, on a certain stretch of highway on my way home, the max boost I could get with the stock exhaust (CAT and a muffler the size of a short bus) was 13-15 lbs of boost at WOT. NOW I can hit 19lbs!
However the disappointing fact though is that my EGT's seemed to have gone up....a bit. Before, cruising along I was at about 500-600*. Now I'm more like 600-650*. Before at WOT I could get it up to 800*... now I can hit 900-1000*. This is all with stock tuning. DP is coming soon. I have checked all connections and no leaks that I can tell. That and my MPG have not changed (even with me playing so it can't be a leak somewhere). But it's not bad and the temps come down fairly quickly when I idle before I shut if off (I idle down to bout 300* before I shut it off).
Ok so I'll show you some pictures... and I'll avoid the story of putting this exhaust in, because although it is incredibly rewarding... GET A FRIEND TO HELP YOU OUT BECAUSE DOING IT YOURSELF IS A MAJOR PITA... Ok I'm done venting now... Oh and have a saw-zall, please don't use a hacksaw... seriously...
Ok So pictures are on Picasa... and don't seem to want to "post" soo here's a link:
Lookin good although kinda hard to see them on the truck from the angle and sun but you can't beat the sound stacks make, the turbo sound is magnificent. Add those babies to your sig, congrats..
Yeah I need to take a couple more pictures... I added two more clamps to the pipes in the bed as "support"... When it quits raining and not dark I'll get more pictures...
And I just updated my sig... thanks for reminding me!

I like the look of stacks, and the black looks great on your truck.
What about after a good rain, My semi would shoot soot all over the place. Just wondering if there is a drain hole in the system somewhere.
I would love em, but white paint and soot is not a good combo.
This is the first rainstorm for the exhaust... So I don't know what it'll do yet. I havn't drilled a drain yet... seeing how it will act after this. I've been parked on an incline so the water, if/when it goes down on the stacks, it will pool at the bottom of the elbow.
We'll see in the morning if crap goes everywhere... But hey, if it does... that just means I get to wash her again! She's always happiest after a good wash!
Looks good.. I'd love to put stacks on my truck.. But I also love my tri fold tonneau cover. Its nice to be able to fold it up when I hook up to the 5th wheel & then close everything back up when we get it unhooked at the campground.. Maybe someday i'll make the trade off..
Sweet. Mine got ANNOYING and i ripped them out after about a month. My 7" aussies looked good. Those look so miniature compared to the size of your truck! But i know he feeling of love your going through! Wait till you see smoke roll out youll pop a boney for sure!!
Looks good! I love my stacks. They sound amazing except for long trips or towing. Other than that I can't get enough of the sound. As for the soot, you are going to get some on your bedside and in the bed no matter what you do, weep hole or not. I have two small buckets I put of mine when it's raining. Worst case I forget and have some soot to deal with.
