Project 55F250 Dullie

Just inherited a 1976 Ford Custom Camper Special, I want to transplant the front and rear end onto my 1955 F250, I am hoping to put the front disc brakes from the 1976 onto my 1955 axle. The rear looks like it will bolt up after moving the spring perches. The data plate on the 1976 rear from what I can see reads as follows: 4 10 D6UA J 603700-9
As far as the front stuff, brakes, spindles, hubs, I'm not sure if all this will just swap, maybe different bearing and king pin sizes. I do remember seeing something on here about a fella named "oily owl" that did a disc conversion on an eight lug set up. Anyone with information or ideas would be helpful

Man that is a loooooong bed.
I don't know anything about your disc conversion for a 8 lug set up, but be sure and post how it goes. I'm sure I will be doing the same thing on my 55 F250 in the next 10-15 years

May, I just looked at some of your gallery. Low rider duallie!!! I can't wait to see that. That will turn heads.

The spindle swap won't work because of the steering. Even if you managed to bolt the spindles on, it requires a cross steering setup and would be direct inline with the front leaf springs.

I wouldn't use that rear axle as its too wide. It has a hub to hub width of 74" and outside of tire width of about 94-95". The 55 has a hub width of 62" and 75" outside of the fenders. Each fender would have to be extended 10".

A much easier rear axle is a 1967-1996 F-350 chassis cab. Hub width of 64" and outside tire width of 84" plus the spring perches are in the right spot. Saves a lot of hassel and keeps the body proportions much cleaner.
