Sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum yesterday. I need some help bad. I have a 02 F350 CC longbed 4x4 with the 7.3 diesel and a banks powerpack system on it. I was towing a 3000 lb trailer, For about 800 miles, I made a pit stop and got back on the interstate and the truck started shaking when I pressed the gas pedal and I had no power. The truck stayed running but every time I went to press the gas pedal the truck engine would shake the whole truck. I got no engine light, the driveshaft is tight as hell. Could it be something in the transmission? When I pulled off the interstate to look under the hood it did sound like it had a misfire. I had to limp it home for 35 miles. Going up hills was really bad because i could only go about 5 mph. I'm just wondering if the tranmission filter is clogged and only letting a certain amount of fluid through it. The fuel filter was changed 10k ago. Someone else mentioned the 50 cent mod, well I dont know what that is, can anyone tell me what that is. I took it for a drive yesterday after it sat for 24 hrs and it did fine until I started going up a hill and gave it gas and the eng was under load thats when it shook, sputtered, but when I leveled out its was fine. Does anybody have any ideas as what it could be?
I would check for codes to see if there are any even with the absence of the SES light there ma be codes. You may have a loose UVCH or like I said before a fuel delivery problem. I asked about the level in the tank becasue if the pick up tube has a crack in it and you are low on fuel going up hill may expose the crack and allow air to enter the fuel system.
How does the engine idle? Does it rev up in neutral ok, or does it shake then too? How full is your engine oil?
The common issue on these trucks that makes the truck shake is an electrical plug working it's way loose under the valve cover. The 50 cent mod shims this connector to keep that from happening.
I had this happen once on my 99 f350. It ended up being a wiring harness but I don't remember which one. The shop repaired it for me. My symptoms sounded exactly the same.
Chris, I read that thread and that is exactly what i'm having except I dont get the SES light. I am going to do all those checks first before tearing everything apart. Wish I would have known about this when I was installing the banks sys. Thanks for all your help Chris. I'll let you know what i end up finding out.
Chris, I Ohmed out both 9 pin connectors and the drivers side was fine and on the passenger side all but one glow plug was reading way out there. If that connector came loose then wouldnt most of the other pins be reading out of tolerence also. Could I have just one glow plug going bad and would that cause my problem also?
