Ok Guys my Bronco has been sitting quite a while and now it it time to bring it to life, the original motor has been replaced with a 351W, AFR AL heads, Big Carb, your basic hot rod Bronco.
It sat for quite a while so, I have pulled the tank, cleaned out the fuel system, new fuel, new battery, new plugs, points, cap, rotor, when the plugs were out a little oil in each cylinder as to not scratch up the bores, put it all back together and I have no spark, have pulled all the plugs and held them to a ground to watch for spark and nothing.
Here is where my problem starts I don't really know where the best place to start to diagnose the no spark issue starts. I am a novice shade tree mechanic and don't really have anyone to go ask since my father passed away.
So the question is if you had a Bronco that turns over, is getting fuel, but won't fire where would you start to find out why you are getting no spark ?
Ignition coil would be my first check. If you aren't getting spark from ANY of the plugs its hard to believe they have all failed even after sitting. Check to be sure you have battery voltage (about +12VDC) at the connector/terminals to the coil. If so, your next check is the distributor internals (cap, rotor, etc). Check fro spark from the center of the cap or the coil itself.
the easiest way to check the coil is to stick a phillips head screw driver into the end of the wire going to the dizzy and hold it bout a half inch form somthing metal and have somone turn over the truck if it shocks you or you see spark the coil is fine if not replace it (if the voltage is good to the coil) if its not the coil recheck your points
