Having motor rebuilt for my 71 F-100 and wondered if anyone can give me a close estimate on how much HP to expect from a combination such as this:
390 CID .060 over
Carb - Holley 650
Intake - Edel Performer RPM
Heads - Stock, but reworked with new CJ valves, intake and exhaust
Rest of engine freshened up, new rods, pistons, turned crank, etc.
Not sure exactly which cam yet, but probably something with around 530 lift and 245 duration @ .50.
Compression - somewhere in the 9.8 or 10.0 : 1 range.
I would have to guess around 325 horsepower at 4500 to 5500 rpm and 405 LBs feet of torque at 3500 to 4000 rpm...not too shabbly ,what kind of exhaust are you going to run?
Thanks. I'm looking at Hooker 6903 headers. FE headers seems to be quite a controversial subject everwhere you go, but I guess I'll give those a try and see what happens. Thanks again for the input.
