need a ring

can a guy get 1 ring set for one pistons hastings number 2m5523 .040. i twisted the top ring just a touch so now it doesn't spin easily in the ring groove when pushed into the ring land . i don't wanna buy another set to get 1 ring. specially since they cost $200 canadian

your best bet would be to go to a machine shop. they probably have spare ones laying around for cheap.

these are 1/16 rings not 5/64. they aren't that common in my area. i emailed hastings about it but they didn't give me a response.

next time i'm in the city i'll look around the machine shops there. sucks putting my motor on hold fora couples months for such a stupid screw up. its not easy finding .040 rings. if i found one for a .030 bore would it work. i was told the tension would be different and the roundness of the ring if i put a .030 ring in a .040 hole. i have to file fit it anyways and it mite be easier finding a .030 ring. i need it ford keith black pistons #124 351w

It sucks but you are doing the smart thing at least. Have you tried looking at summit racing for rings? 200 bucks a set is crazy. I think I paid 45 bucks U.S. for a moly set from speed pro.

i paid canadian jobber price from hastings plus frieght which came out to $200. i think i'm gonna order some heads from summit for this motor. so maybe i'll get another set of rings too
