Question for the dark side

I swapped in a 700r4 in my 53. When I was going to hook up my new speedo cable the threads on the speedo holder broke off. I replaced with the one out of my 350 but the speedo shaft was not long enough for the cable to engage. Will the speedo gear out of the 350 inter change? I know the gear out of the 700r4 is 37 teeth but the 350 is only 34 teeth. Plus the end of the gear that goes into the transmission is shaped different.

I'm not sure if the TH350 speedo driven gear is the same as a 700R4. I know that the driven gear (and the drive gear) come in a variety of different teeth counts so that you can "adjust" for axle ratio and tire diameter.

I used to have a chart that I stole of a webisite but I can't find it right now. Do a google search for 700R4 speedo gears and you should probalby come up with something

here's a link with info;
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm

it looks like some TH350 gears will work in the 700R4

If you have a speedometer shop in town, they can make you a "proper" cable for about $25!
