Will a C6 tranny from a '80's f-150 that was beind a 351w or a C6 from a '78 f150 that was behind a 460 fit behind a '70 360 that had a 4 speed stick? I know there will be mods i have to do, but was wondering about the feasability of either of these two trannys bolting up to the 360 ,with or without adapters. I have a '67 F100 custom cab swb that i am modding and have access to the above mentioned transmissions. Thanks for any input, Will
Thanks i was thinking that, but was not sure. Are any parts for the '70 four speed available? Maybe i will just stick with it if i can rebuild it. Maybe i will go with the 460 and C6 setup. Will it fit? Just starting to plan this out and can't decide. The 360 is running good after rebuild ,but the tranny is toast as well as the clutch. The transmission has like 230000 miles on it. The 460 and C6 are running also and are relatively new rebuilt items, but i have been thru a couple of transplants and the headaches you run into when the running gear was not originally made for the vehicle you want to put them in. The guy with the 360 and bad tranny will just give me the running gear of his wrecked truck, the 460 and C6 belong to me. Decisions, decisions, decisions. The '67 i am wanting to revive was a three on the tree, 300six that went thru 2 rebuilds and 310000 miles and currently is on vacation. Well maybe i will hook up a battery and turn the old AM dial to my local sports channel , listen to a ballgame and think about what the old truck would be like with either of these setups in it.HMMM, to stomp and row or not, that is something to think about too.
Thanks for the welcome and info on the manual trans. I have not got the chance to go and look at the truck with the 360 and 4 speed yet so i do not know which one it has, but i suspect it is going to be the heavier of the two because that truck i was told is a camper special 3/4 ton. Since i have not gone to look yet i will have just guess that it is.Do you know of any major fitment problems going from the six banger and three on the tree to the 360 with the 4 speed? I know the truck has a long wheelbase and mine a short wheelbase so the drive shaft would have to be sourced, but what i am getting at is, clutch peddle, fit of motor and trans between the frame and under the hood and cab, things like that. Any info would help.
i have always wanted a 4 speed manual. it would be the cats ***.
i'll trade you my good c6. but would need clutch pedal and all. probly driveshaft too.
