Hey guys on the 92 F-250 in my signature, When I start it up hot or cold the oil pressure gauges goes to the "N" on normal and stays there while it's running. Even at highway speed. The oil is right at the correct level and engine runs perfect, 180k miles...
Possibly the sensor? Where is this sensor located? I'd like to replace it I'm going to be selling it soon and that doesn't look good when the oil pressure is barely in the normal range. I've been driving it around like this it doesn't really worry me because I realize it's electronic and it's a possibility the sensor is bad. And it runs good
my gauge reads the same thing... just a hair past the N 24/7 spring, summer, fall, winter you name it so about 3 weeks ago i put a mechanical gauge on it to actually see what my truck is doing and like you said it runs like a top! back to your original question though, remember though the stock gauges are pretty much the true definition of dummy lights and warnings but yes it could be just that it needs a new sensor i just never bothered with mine being that i have the new gauge in there
mine used to do that and then it went up to the top and ran there for about a week and was scaring me so i went down to orielly and picked up a mechanical gauge set for i think 40 bucks came with water temp and oil pressure plus a voltmeter the oil pressure and water temp are 20 bucks a piece if bought induvidually so you pretty much get the voltmeter for free
but my oil pressure on the mechanical runs 20 psi at idle 40 at highway speed and 40 idle with high idle solienoid on and will go up to 50psi if you drive while the high idle is on
water temp sticks around 180-195 once she's warmed up
