be careful !!!!!!

My 2011 SD is 1 month old and I came out of best buy and the lights were flashing. Someone broke into it thru the drivers door. Popped the lock. After $300 to replace door handle and rekey and $500 for new alarm no-one can get withen 18" of my truck and all hell breaks loose.

Sorry to hear about this. Did they take anything after breaking in? Some people just don't respect other peoples things. Good luck in the future.

What alarm did you get? Do you have the remote start from the factory?

Took my granddaughters portable DVD player. Live in Deer Park , TX. I got the prestige alarm with what they call the "microwave". Now I just stand aways from my truck and watch people looking at it and when they get too close the sirens start. kind of fun to watch. No I do not have factory start.

Car alarms are useless these day's. Go to WalMart ANY day and just listen to all the alarms going off. No one even looks these day's.

I always wanted to call 911 and tell them there was a car alarm going off and see if they would even send a car. Most folks use the alarm as a car locator so people don't even give them a second thought. Sad but true. Even the fancy alarms don't get a look.

usually they just punch the lock out (easy to do) and then flick the lock lever bar thru the lock hole. takes about 5 seconds with a screwdriver.

the handle and lock cylinder assembly is plastic.

yes Sam that is exactly what they did. Gonna check on those jimmie jammers. The alarm I got is a Prestige platinum model # APS-596N . Yes I know about alarms going off and no one paying attenetion but at least mine has a fob that goes with me and has a range of 1-1/2 to 2 miles. it shows me what door is open or if it is shock or motion that it going off.

That is cool. So is it like a pager or the size of a normal Key FOB?

seems if u disconnect the rod connected to the lock cylinder then even if they punch it, there is nothing there to grab..

jimmi jammers has a new prod which is a filler for the lock cyl space..
you take it out in advance.. course you could just put s different handle on too, without lock..

some say that garauntees they will break the glass or pry under the hander screwing up the door.. nothing is easy anymore thats for sure..

I just put a nav unit in my truck, and nee to get the jammers in before I go anywhere I guess.
