Hey Guy's: I posted this on the F250 site and no replies, so I'll ask here.
Filled up yesterday and the gauge didn't move up any farther than before I filled up.
It was just above 1/4 tank and stayed there after fill up.
Today it has slowly moved up to 1/2 tank on the gauge.

Any help greatly appreciated. Jim
My gauge seems like it takes forever to move after I fuel up too, but not a day.
I think these trucks ar famous for inaccurate fuel level readings.
Mine dosent work between 1/2 and 3/4
Jim...Don't feel like the Lone Ranger.Mine does that ever now and then but I still have not figurred it out.99% of the time it works great and then I will fill up and it will not respond for a few miles and then come up slowly.
I know it is still in-tack in the tank because it has not been too long since I had the tank down.
Thanks Guy's. I have cycled the key switch, and even made a few short trips. It is coming up as I said. I had this happen for the first time a while back, but in an hour or so of driving it was working as it should.
Maybe I'll have a look, if I do the tank mod. Still thinking about if I need it or not.
Thanks Jim
Mine is constantly stuck on full, no matter what. When I turn the key off it goes to empty. Once in a great while it'll read to correct fuel below 3/8ths of a tank. Oh well, I've just learned to live with it for now. As others have said, many guys have fuel gauge problems.
Went out in the truck today and noticed the gauge is now reading full. Took less than 15 miles total. I thought I would follow up. Thanks to everyone who posted. Jim

My 99 did the same thing. It was the sending unit in the tank. You have to drop the tank which isn't too hard if you have two floor jacks. Ford wants around $400 for the sending unit on the diesel's because they welded the sending unit backing plate to the in tank assembly. On the gas trucks the sending unit backing plate bolts to the in tank assembly and only costs $150 but is the same unit. All you have to do is carefully unclip the plastic cover on the sending unit from the gas backing plate and carefully clip the sending unit onto the diesel backing plate that is attached to the tank assembly. I replaced mine two months ago and it works like new again. It saved me $250 that I can spend on something else. Ford will tell you that it won't work but it does. Good Luck!
Glad to help guy's. I got tired of not knowing how much fuel I had. I used the tripometer for over a year. Everyone kept telling me it was in the wiring between the tank and gauge. I traced everything and found nothing. I finally got tired of it and dropped the tank and figured out that the sender wasn't working. Changed it as described above and now I don't have to wonder how much fuel I have left. Here is the part number of the sender that I used hope it helps:
