New member with engine swap question
Okay, this is the first time I have ever used one of these sites. I just need to know what all I need to do to put a manual transmission diesel motor in my 88 f250? It is currently set up with an automatic transmission and the 460 v8. I'm just wanting to put the diesel in it because I want something to do this winter and my dad just gave me this truck. He said when he started working on it the engine was locked up and he just never did get around to finding a good motor for it. I'm wanting the diesel because of the power and I tend to run vehicles a little harder than I should. I help my fiancé's parents on their farm and lots of times her dad needs help hauling live stock to the market or other things like hay and equipment. I really just want to know how big of job I'm getting into and what I'm looking at replacing. I am a biochem premed student at Marshall University and am in the national guard, money isn't really an issue, but I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible without sacrificing to much quality? If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Joe

That is very good advice. you will be surprised at the amount of stuff that is different and that you will need to have as your project goes along. you are looking at a money pit and having the donor truck right there will help more than you will believe.
