I am new to your forum but I have browsed through it in the past. I was driving my 95 F-250 yesterday and pulled into a driveway. It started running really rough and shut off. It started back up but would not stay running below 1000 rpm. It will stay running above that and sounds fine except it will randomly "chug" on occasion. I replaced the fuel filter and noticed no change in the symptoms. I hooked my snap on scanner up to it an retrieved a PO113 IAT CKT High input and a PO476 EXH. PRES CTRL VALVE PERFORM. What do I need to do next???
Check the oil likeTalyn said, low oil will cause this problem,if oil is not low ,you might have a cps going bad,new one at the ford dealer is about 35.00 dollars.I have never changed one,but i understand it not much of a job.someone will come on and tell how to change it out.Good luck.
Doesn't sound like typical CPS symptoms but who knows. Is the driveway you pulled into on a steep angle by chance?
Neither of the codes you pulled should affect performance. Clear the codes and drive it for a bit to see if the symptoms clear up.
P0476 Exhaust Pressure Control Valve Performance
P0113 IAT Sensor Circuit High Input
They both say he's having oil problems. =)
EBPV is not operating properly, so he's getting a code.
If his oils fine, I think thats an ICP problem.
Disconnect it and see if it runs if the oil is good.
its the sensor on the head just to the right of the fuel bowl. Has 3 wires going into it.
But with the EBPV problem, its probably oil. Or the valve is stuck closed.
Slick *****, how the **** does a code for the INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR mean he has oil problems???
P0476 is the code you get with the EBPV unplugged, a problem with the oil system will NOT set the code for the EBPV... Even if the sensor is bad and throwing the code... its not because of the oil!
Oil is full changed 500 miles ago. I was on an inclined driveway when it started acting up. The fuel tank it was running on was full and I changed the fuel filter.... I've driven it approx 10 miles since and still no change.. I have a spare cps I will change this evening .. Any other input would greatly be appreciated..
It was on an incline when it started acting up, but I immediately rolled back out of the driveway and I have driven it about 10 miles since with the same symptoms

Sounds like a cracked pickup tube and now you have air in the HPO system.
shut the truck off and start it again, if its an extended crank but starts and stumbles a little and may be a little under powered then you have air in the system and ill agree with the cracked pick up tube. but if it starts fine and still wont stay running below the rpm, then you might have an issue somewere else

I tried everything and I want to thank everyone for their input. I tried the restart and it started right up but had the same symptoms. So I started with the easiest and just did a process of elimination. Turns out it was in fact the CPS. I own two powerstrokes ( a 95 and a 99) and I have replaced these in the past but I did not have any symptoms like this. They were either a no start or shut down and would not restart.... Anyway thanks again.
The first thing I noticed after it was running again, I noticed a small amount of fuel in the valley pan. Hopefully this was changing the fuel filter. It was dripping out under the truck around the bell housing. Is there something else I should be looking for?????

Hoses between the fuel pump and bowl could be leaking, pump itself could be leaking, fuel bowl drain valve could be leaking...
First things first, soak up the diesel on the motor and see if the puddle returns. If it does then determine where its coming from.
