I am looking into getting the leveling kit for my 04 supercrew. Wanting to know who got what installed and what brand is a good one and what brand is one to stay away from. Also do I need a helper spring in the back, I noticed while searching that some "kits" came with one. Pics would be great!
I got the Daystar 2.5" leveling kit... no rear lift at all.... been very happy with it and it's been on the truck for about 38,000 miles... no issues. Be sure to have an alignment when it's done and you get your newer bigger tires (assuming you are making that change)...
I also have a Daystar kit with no rear lift on my 04 FX4 S-cab...since it was new with no problems at all. The truck sits level. I did add the offset alignment doohickeys to give me more adjustability for wheel alignment.
On my 07 I used the Auto Spring 2" kit. The kit was easy to install and the quality was top notch. I went with the 2" kit because I run a Leer topper so the truck is level with the weight in the back from the topper. I run a LT285/70R17 on my truck with no rub issues.
Good Luck!
Yeah plan on running a slightly larger tire. Upgrading from a 275 65 18 to a 275 70 18. Not sure how much wider i can go with stock rims. 285 65 maybe? Maybe I should look for a thread on that. But thanks guys for the posts. Maybe some pics one of these days.
Depending on what tire you go with will depend on the size you can go on stock rims. I could have gone to 295/70/18 in the Nittos on my stock rim. That is basically a 35" tire and just about 12" wide.
What you want to do is stay away from the 325/60's and 325/65's. These are the same size height wise of the 285's and the 295's but they are 13" wide.
I currently run 285/65/18's on my factory rims and there is no issue what so ever.
Coskid is right...
I had 325/60R18's ProComp Xtreme all terrains on 18x10's.... they were VERY wide (looked awesome!!) but I had some rubbing on the wheel well... I just sold them and put on Nitto Terra grapps. 305/55R20's on 20x9's and there is ZERO rubbing!
I will try to figure out how to get some pics up soon for ya!!
Fx4pitrone use the album under your User CPO and you can just upload photos to the site. Otherwise you have to use photobucket or something like that to get them into the thread itself.
here is a pic for you. this is my 07 with 35/12.50/17 on 17x9 wheels and a hellbentsteel.com 2.5 level kit. i am thinking about a 1in rear block. hope it helps and my level kit only cost like $70 in my hand and its very well made and i dont rub from lock to lock
i know the feeling all to well hahaha. just to help some i told my old lady that i need it to keep an eye on what the truck is doing so i dont tear it up without knowing. it did help, we had some big snow for va last winter and i got stuck with my stock tires and used the edge to keep an eye on the trans temp and had to let the truck cool down a few times and would have never known how hot the trans was getting.
