I have been put on a quest to find a triangulator. I know what its for, but all i can find are software programs to do it. What i'm looking for is apparently the old kind that was something like a slide rule. I have searched google, msn, amazon and ebay in hopes of at least getting a picture of what this thing looks like. I have a patent number for it if that would help. I dont know if its possible to search by patent number. any possible help is greatly appreciated.....
It sounds like what you're describing is an E6B, airman's flight calculator. It works like a slide rule to solve problems for ground speed, fuel use and stuff like that. On the back side is a compass bezel and grid to triangulate course correction angles for wind speed/direction problems.
You can get an E6B at an airport flight center that sells sectional charts, books and other supplies for pilots and student pilots.
Thanks! the CC has a pilot program now I'll check there. If thats not it or wont work well then I'm still clueless.
Edit: well i just did a patent search and found a diagram of it and its something different, it actually looks like a slide card. I'm sure i wont find an original one as it was patented in 1939. but surely I should be able to find one somewhere I would think....any one have any ideas?

Its used in some engineering classes I'm told (I havent gotten that high yet). For now I just want to "play" with it until I need it (sorry I'm a geek). If you put in certain info about an angle it will give you the formula(s) to figure out the missing info. Maybe I'll see what else I can find on the soft ware versions. They look like more fun.
