no power down low

lately my truck seems to be lacking some power at low rpms, such as when i am first accelerating. i feel like i have to let the clutch slip more than usual to get going, almost as if i am towing a heavy trailer. sometimes the truck bogs for a second and bucks as i am letting off the clutch. my engine light comes on intermittently but only stays on for about 30 seconds. its a 92 f150 i6 5spd. my first thought was the egr valve.

If you're getting a CEL then you should pull the codes to see what it's telling you.

+1 on the codes.

Lack of timing and clogged fuel filters can be contributors as well.

sorry to bring back the old post but i got my codes checked today and the only thing my mechanic said came up was "lean exhuast". he said i just need new 02 sensors. but could this code have anything to do with lacking a little power at low rpms?

Your mechanic is about to start costing you a lot of money. Pull the codes yourself and post them here and we'll help you track down the problem, if the O2 sensor was bad(your truck only has 1) the motor would run rich and you would get a code for "HEGO not switching". A lean code is an indication of a problem outside computer control which could be the EGR but could also be a cracked exhaust manifold or rusted/broken smog equipment.

i seafoamed my truck today and smoke was sneaking out where the headers meet the rest of the exhaust. could that cause a lean code? also, i remember the mechanic saying something wasnt switching, but he probably didnt dwell on it because he knows i dont know what "hego not switching" means.

i changed my fuel filter and seafoamed the truck and it really made a difference! thanks for the suggestion. next thing to do is fix my leaky headers.
