I have to do mine also, but I have a lot of rust in the c part of the arm where it meets the bushing.
so I might need to find some good used arms and caps so if any one has some good used ones please let me know.

Steve1103 you can search and get your answer. I posted this same question up not to long ago. On 2wd not a big job, 4x4 might take more work.

patience. i changed them in a 74 about a month ago. if you can get a floor jack under the front i beam and get them tied together, it helps pull the arm and bushing out of the bracket-if your not drilling the rivets out and replacing with g8 bolts-and just the normal oil lube on the rubber bushings and the bracket to help slide it back in, which can be a PITA. hope that helps a little.

I did this on a 4x4 last year. it was easier than people will tell you. I unbolted the brackets from the frams to remove the back side of the arm bushing. while I had it all out, I sand blasted it all, and sprayed some bed liner on them all. Then when I put them back on, I used my floor jack to press them back up and got the bolts started then tightened them down. took me 4 days. an hour or so of work, have to let the bed liner cure for 72 hours

Easiest way is to remove rivets/ bolts that hold the brackets to the frame. remove nut on end of arm, remove brackets and rubber bushings. Slide the new parts on and relpace ALL the rivets and bolts removed with grade 8 hardware. 2 hours max and the next time less than 1 hour if you need to ever do them again. ( need a air hammer and grinder minumum but torch is the best!) you can do it this way on level ground with the tires chalked and leaving the truck on the ground.

I'm doing the exact same project on mine. I'm stuck at getting the rivets off. I drilled out the center of the head and knocked the head off with a chisel, Now it just looks like 1 piece of metal, bracket and all. Are the rivets part of the bracket and actually have to be drilled completely out in order to obtain a new clean hole? Or is it a sleeve like I would of thought...Any answers appreciated

You should be able to knock them out with a hammer and a punch but an air chisel with a blunt end would be faster. If not you'll have to drill them out.unless you have a set of torches. When they hammer the rivets together it not only squeezes the parts together and makes the round head it also swells up inside the hole.
