hey im curious if you can use an older D60 under a 94 with the VSS? i know my D60 does not have this sensor in it. how could i make it so my spedo and computer still work right? im trying to find out whats cheaper to do 8 lug conversion or buy 18" 5 lug wheels...looking at about 700-800 for new wheels.
i only thought about the d60 as i have 2 of them right now and i know where probably 4 more are at...lol im thinking it will be cheaper to buy new wheels..been looking on the net and finding its not a cheap swap. its not like im going rock crawling or heavy off roading. i like to play in the dirt and mud every so often but not that much...lol im putting a rough country 4" lift on and i have a set of nitto mud grapplers 35x12.5x18 on 8 lug wheels so im trying to be smart on the wheels...so new wheels or 8 lug swap... know anyone who wants to buy a 73 F250
are you planning on a gear swap also? you can get a tone ring installed onto the rear carrier. not sure if this require a gear setup cost to have that put on. not to mention you would still need to drill the pumpkin to allow a spot for the sensor.
yeah...i wondered about that. well the D60 i have has 3:56 gears in it now and my currant 8.8 has 3:55's but i do have a set of 4:10 for the d60 and 4:09 for the D44. like i said i was trying to be cheap but i dont see that as an option...lol id really be pushing to do the swap if i did some hard core off roading. if i can find some chevy kuckles to get what i need off of them for cheap i guess it would be worth while. i seen some guy spent over 2K on his 8 lug swap. i was thinking thats nuts but his rig was built for some rough stuff.
if you plan to run 35's figure on 4.56 or 4.88 gears minimum. most sterling 10.25 rear diffs are 4.10 geard already and would be a direct swap out back. not modification necessary at all. then you can locate the front 8 lug knuckles you need to get the front converted. and then go thru the wrecking yards and craigslist for a D44 TTB 4.10 geard center section and swap that in. no gear setup required. at least 4.10's would be better then 3.55 gears and that tall of a tire.
the stress you would put on your motor, tranny could cost you far more. Frankly i would just get gears installed into your current TTB and 8.8 before you install the taller tires or plan to shortly there after. I wheel my rig pretty good and have only broken front axles but that due to being locked up front.
yeah i'd love to do the sterling swap but its looking like wheels will be cheaper. i need to sell a bunch of my old highboy stuff so i have more funds to play with...lol
