Being born and raised in bakersfield Merle haggard and the Buck owens family were staples as were the stars that came to hang with them.

My sister actually dated wresteler Chavo Guerro in the 70's. Mom dated Paul "Butcher" Vachon for awhile as well. Family worked the concession stand at Strongbow stadium so wrestlers were a part of our daily lives for about three-four years. Roddy piper, Guerroes (sp) I even got to have Andre the Giant to hang with when we would go to the Olympic in So Cal. That was always kewl.
When we lived in So Cal for a few years 68-72 My sister Beth was crushed on by Johhny Whittaker. Alot of the boys from the movie The Cowboys went to their junior high school. I believe it was called Olive Vista Jr. High.
The Palomino Club was where we got to meet Doug Kershaw, Charlie pride, Doug McClure, Charlie Rich and a few others. I was kinda young so I do remeber a whole lot but I got to meet them.
Met Lee majors while he was filming six million dollar man in Sylmar at the Blue Horse Inn. I did okay until his wardrobe valet showed up and I saw his tightie whities on a hanger...for a girl my age that was just wrong to see those.
Saw Maureen McCormick at a mall in Topanga Plaza in SO Cal in early 70's felt let down cause she was smokin and marsha Brady wouldnt smoke.
Went to environmental banquets and had dinner with George Bush. Got to talk to him several times. Awesome man.
Have Dack rambos autograph.
And tho there are more the best is my niece Melanie has been a movie extra for quite a while and just got her SAG card! She is in little black book, Catch me if you can, Plus a few others.

Last spring a few friends and I went down to Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street. I was the shortest of the bunch, so I let them go first so as to not get lost...there were sooooo many people. One of the guys is wearing a hat too. So as we're walking, I see this hand reach out and knock off his hat. As he's getting it, I see a foot from the same direction try to trip him. I turn around with a face and a rude comment ready when I see nothing but shoulders and chest. This guy was a monster, and had a little short sidekick with an annoying giggle and nothing but muscle. One of them said that it was Lex Luger.

I don't know much about wrestling, or the people, but at 5'9" and 165lbs, he's lucky he didn't stick around to see what my rude comment was going to be, I would've messed his world up.....if he had enough to drink.....and was injured.....and not paying attention.....while his hands were full.

Lets see..

A few years ago I was standing next to Ed Koch at a parade in NYC. I didn't stay there long because I was too busy looking for someone I knew. Just this past spring, I was crossing the street in NYC. All of a sudden myself and another gentleman walking towards me were cut off by a speeding psycho bicyclist. We both almost walked right into the guy. As soon as the bicyclist passed, we both looked up. It was none other than Sam Wasterson of Law & Order. We just both shrugged at eachother and kept on walking.

The other "famous" people I know are relatives. My cousin was backup QB for Joe Namath years back for the Jets. Another cousin of mine pitched for the Cincinatti Reds back in the late 80's. Actually made it to the world series and the all star game. Finally, another cousin of mine is a guitarist and has toured with David Lee Roth, Ozzy, and others.

Hmm. Where to start? Just kidding.

While on our honeymoon, my wife and I (actually my wife) saw Tara Lipinsky. I don't know who she is. I don't care who she is. Something to do with figure skating or something.

At a friend's wedding a few weeks ago, I met Peter Schaefer. He plays hockey for the Ottawa Senators.

My wife's cousin had a very small role in the movie "What Lies Beneath"

I once bought a beer for Tom DeLouise, or Peter DeLouise. Whoever is the younger one. Real nice guy.

I've also ran into some local news reporters. A couple of them got their VW's serviced at the dealership I used to work at.

And finally, Yasmine Bleeth in a bar. She got hit on by everybody. Even some girls. I guess in hindsight, it probably wasn't her. She (or her lookalike) was a regular at that particular bar.

Edit: Also on our honeymoon, we saw Kramer's midget buddy from Seinfeld.

No, it wasn't Newman. It was the midget dude. In one of the Seinfeld episodes, he was the guy trying to pick up a midget chick. He was also busted for using "lifts" in his shoes to appear a bit taller.

In July 04 I ran into Olie North as I was exiting the mess hall in Taqddum AB Iraq. He was there doing a tour for the Marines (1MEF) is/was spread out in the general area. I also saw him on his book signing tour at Ft Sam Houston, TX (can't remember if it was 02 or 03).
Nov 03 while taking our dogs for a stroll in the pet area of the west bound Mississippi welcome center on I-20 we met actor James Woods, a very nice individual.
Spring of 99 as I recall Wal-Mart in Hinesville, Ga had Christina Aquillera participate in a local high school prom and then did a "Makeover" or something in the store. She was a royal PAIN in the A$$.

I've met a few people others might know of:

Tim Allen (Home Improvement) - while he was filming "The Santa Clause" at the Metro Toronto Zoo. I do mobile truck and trailer repairs and had to fix a hole in a leaky roof in a storage trailer they were using at the time. He was nice - and alot like "The Tool Man" - introduced himself and wanted to look at the welder, compressor and other tools in my service truck. I got lunch from the catering crew on sight as his "guest".

Gillian Anderson (The X Files) - Friendly and cute. Enough said.

Tie Domi (Hockey player Toronto Maple Leafs) - nice guy, met him a few times at the same Tim Horton's coffee shop in Mississauga, Ontario. He was patient enough to sign my Toronto Maple Leafs cap after I had to look for a marker.

Those are my brushes with fame and stardom.

Glenn

Me and some friends were in the VIP at Rachel's (a Gentlemans Club ) back about 10 years ago when Frank Thomas of the Chicago White Sox tried to buy our food. He wasn't trying to pay for our dinner, he wanted to buy the food my friend had ordered The guy had gotten up to go to the restroom when his $40+ meal had arrived. Frank offered me 100 bucks for it, but I declined

Well, right now I am refinishing some wood floors for Christian singer Jeremy Camp. It's been a few years since I've seen him, though, but I work with his uncle on occasion, and I've known his dad for quite some time.

Sen. Richard Lugar spoke at my HS graduation (don't recall if I met him or not afterwards). I met Sen. Evan Bayh (then governor of IN) at an awards ceremony in HS.

I also know Axl Rose's stepdad, but there's no relationship between the two (Axl didn't even go to his own mom's funeral).

And for you woodworkers out there, I've met Frank Klausz, Toshio Odate, Yeung Chan, Stuart Mortimer, Ellis Walentine, and a few others, including some who I am sure will be famous in the woodworking community within a few years.

Oh, and I once had a letter to the editor published in a construction trade magazine--I guess I'm almost famous!

The reason I got to meet all those people in the Godfather II was that I was an extra in that movie, at age 12, so I guess I'm almost famous, too! My name didn't make it into the credits or any thing like that, but there is about 30 seconds in the movie where you can see me pretty clearly. And when I was racing, kids used to come up to me and ask me for my autograph after the race. That was weird the first time it happened, I was thinking, "I'm not anybody famous, what do you want my autograph for?" -TD

I hadn't heard Dick Biondi mentioned in MANY years! We listened to him when I lived south of Chicago (Park Forest) back in the early 60's. My dad got him tickets for the D&RGW Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge train and met him. He mentioned dad on his show for that. Wow, huh? I also remember he got booted off the air for something around that time too.
