I replaced the drivers side glow plugs today and plan on doing the other side tomorrow. Everything went fine and the truck runs well, but while driving the engine decided to make some loud buzzing noise twice. I would just happen and then I would let off the pedal and it immediately went away and the truck went on like nothing had happened. I am worried that I forgot to reconnect something or left something under the valve cover. Any ideas?
I checked everything out real well before I put the valve cover back on and the only thing I can think of that might be a problem was that I unplugged and replugged the rear injector to get my socket out from between the rocker arm and the injector. Is it possible a little oil could be arcing the connectors? I cleaned it off before I plugged it back in. I also just found out that my relatively new GPR is bad. It clicks very loudly but the voltage stays at 12.6 volts even when the key is turned on. The GPR is only about 6 months old.
The oil would act as a insulator not a conductor. Anyhow check the connection that is out side the valve cover for issues. They have been known to short and sometimes its hard to tell. Replace the GPR with a Stancor 586-902 and be done with it.
I have been looking for that Stancor number. Thanks.
I just disconnected the rear passenger's side valve cover connector and the last pin is burned. I guess I am buying a new valve cover gasket, but how do I replace the female connector?
