Glow Plug Relay noise (GPR-109)

Glow Plug Relay noise (GPR-109)
just replaced my GPR with a GPR-109 from napa. Wanted to get a stancor but couldn't wait. Truck wouldn't start this morning.
Wired it all up and when I clicked the key on something started humming. Seeing as how the old relay didn't work this could be two things, the relay coil itself or the glow plugs. Do glow plugs make a humming noise?
If this were a 120v circuit I would describe the hum as somthing similar to a 60hz hum but slightly higher in pitch.
Is this normal??? It sure doesn't sound normal. If this is defective, you think Napa will replace it for me?
Glow plugs definately work though. Truck fired right up

There has to be more going on. A lose coil will hum on AC. With DC lose wires will click once and then be quiet. Something is causing oscillation. Maybe if the coil is borderline on staying... it will turn on the plugs; the voltage drops and it kicks back out; and then repeats.
