Ok so this was a really dumb mistake... I had sprayed my truck roof with DP90LF two weeks ago so sanded it today to shoot a new coat of DP90 and then move on to top coat... When I mixed up the DP90 (2) and Catalyst (1), I accidentally added Acetone (1/2) instead of DT Reducer (1/2)... So, I sprayed it with the Acetone as a reducer... Major brain fade..!!!!!!!!!!!... I notice the DP90 with the Acetone is not as glossy as non-reduced DP90....
Soooooooo, do I need to sand (or strip it) and start over or will it be ok to just go ahead with the top coat (Omni MTK) on the DP90 with Acetone..??????...
Ok, so I now know why the brain fade... It was a mix up in the Product Sheets... I am using DP90LF on the roof due to prior rust... I am using Omni MP170 on the hood since it is cheaper (this is just a daily driver)... I was reading the MP170 P-Sheet (thinking forward to the hood) and it says Acetone can be used... So, when I decided to reduce the DP90LF, I had Acetone on the brain as a reducer...
I have read that Acetone might just lengthen the cure time.... Soooooo, if Acetone is ok with the MP170 epoxy primer, will it be ok with the DP90LF??
Acetone flashes off quicker than the reducer will, that why the duller finish. It might be okay. I would take a piece of 320 grit paper and sand a small area. If it builds up quick on the paper or ***** up, you are probably going to have to remove everything and start all over again. If it sands fine then I would say you are good to go. But one suggestion I am gaing to make....I never top coat over DP primers. I reprime over them with DZ primer then top coat over that.
