The original problem suggesting injector replacement has been solved---it was simply the COP, injectors are just fine. Thanks to those who've already posted advice and suggestions----nothing more is needed at this point however.
Am about to replace up to four injectors on my '00 E250 5.4L with 238K miles------looking for real world experience with replacement brands etc.
So far I've found OEM/Motorcraft for about $79 each shipped--Amazon.com. Ed the parts guy here wants $93 each plus shipping. NAPA and Advance Auto Parts want about $59-62 each.
I'm open to any suggestions, would prefer someone who's done this with one brand or another and the success or failure rate. While money is an issue to an extent its not if there is overwhelming evidence one brand is better than another.
what i have seen others say to this point is they all suggest using oe replacement parts and or ford racing parts .. waiting to see what answers you get as my 95 bird's 4.6 could benefit from new ones and been looking at the whole gamut from all sources , such as accel , venom , summit , ford / ford racing , and many others .
As it turns out my problem condition was nothing more than a bad Granatelli coil pack---replaced in later April and just flamed out with no warning etc. Even though it tested okay according to the pinpoint diagnosis steps in the Ford factory manual I still needed to replace it. Best thing was Jeg's (a home town retailer) warrantied these for a year so apart from changing a bad one it was a good purchase.
Injector-wise I started calling around and found Ford OEM were $116 (discounted from $155) each, NAPA @ $62 each, Venom @ $49 each but by far the best price was from Ed The Parts Guy here at $77 each! I've already bought a few things from Horizon Ford and anything costly like this again and my first check will be them!

There are several posts in the Expedition forum that name sa seller on ebay as a good source and very cheap too with great results.
For my money I'm still a huge fan of PartsGuyEd Mel----can't be beat for the OEM stuff price and deliery wise! Were I a sailor I'd say I fancy the cut of their jib!

I have no problem with PartsGuyEd but he is limited in what he can do by the dual restrictions of a dealership and a manufacturer's price structures. I like shopping eBay and C/L because you never know what you might find there or the price. At times there are some outstandingly good deals there and then there is nothing. When I worked at Holman-Moody I got wised up a bit on the retail price of engine parts Vs. real cost when I bought a cam and a bunch of other stuff for an engine I was building for my street racer. The cam was listed somewhere around $100.00 and my cost was $9.75 as company employees only paid "Dead Cost" for parts. That was my wake-up call with buying parts. Ford and the dealerships have a huge expense to crack just to stay in business and I do respect that but I also respect my personal finances more.
You're absolutely right about pricing and such being limited by a branded dealership---it goes with the territory I guess. Usually I get about a 20-25% discount on OEM Ford parts which is okay but Ed/Horizon Ford gives about 40-42% which is significant to me. Some items I would never substitute even best quality NAPA parts so its a good outlet for me.
I recall when Yokahama tires were introduced into the USA---their A008's were selling for about $100 each. In a chance conversation with Alois Ruff of Germany who was/is a reknown Porsche refitter told me he could buy them for $8 each USD's---WHAT?!?!? I said!
I also haunt FleaBay and Craig's List as well but for some things I want the support of buying from someone who'll back up the product. Unless I'm buying stuff at a nickel on the dollar reliability is worth spending the bigger dollars if necessary. Being absolutely dependent on my work truck I'm not willing to hunt too long for a good deal---time is money!
Holman-Moody huh? Wow---what a storied name in racing that is! Given they were such a huge benefit to Ford's unofficial racing participation no wonder such great prices were available to employees. Being a long time GM performance fan (and even Chrysler before '68) Holman-Moody such were a stand out operation with many an innovation in NASCAR racing. I believe I'm a bit jealous!!
Yup, it's nice to be able to add that tag to my name once in a while. H-M didn't pay very well, at least in Florida, but there were some perks as well as really good tip$ from a lot of the boat owners we worked with. $100.00 tip was not unusual for an oil change and a tune up and that was per engine. Ahh, the good old days. Where the he** did they go?
You just need to look around online or through some auto mags for I bought a whole set for my 4.6 for 210.00 off of some website, just cant remember what site is was and they were motorcraft named.
Guys as much as the additional help is appreciated the original problem suggesting injector replacement has been solved-----no real need to follow up any longer!
Thanks so much-----great advice and leads provided already!
