Better go back and read your post chief. I'm not the one that started out with the rude comments and innuendo.

And just for the record, my mother is quite satisfied with how I turned out. Have a great day.

It won't let me post attachments but here's the confirmation from Ford's very own 2008 Super Duty brochure. It's a pdf file so just click then download. I hate always being right (that's called sarcasm, before your panties get bunched tgreening).

www.jomacltd.com/ford-trucks/2008-F-Series.pdf

The info is located on page 4 (repeated on page 15) which deals with the 2008 6.4 and its power output of 350/650. In the footnotes it says that the engine is 325/600 when the F450 is equipped with a manual transmission OR the 4.88 rear end regardless of transmission. Therefore, per Ford, it was in standard tune for those of us with the 2008 F450 w/4.30s and torqshift. There's a bunch more on this and it's fairly well known but this was the first thing I found.

Unfortunately this does NOT seem to be true of the 2010s. The 2010 Ford literature confirms the engine IS detuned throughout the F450 range. My bad for getting your hopes up Reluctant Fiver. On the plus side the difference is negligible and is likely done to aid longevity, you can try and ask for a reflash but unless Ford sign off your warranty may be in jeopardy.

No panty bunching here. Don't wear 'em. Or underwear acutally.

You actually made my day. My buddy with the 6.0 F-350 has been crowing daily about how his 6.0 is actually a match for my crippled 6.4. Now I get to take the wind out of his sails.

My apologies. I may have been a bit tired and grouchy concerning your post and took offense where none was intended. All I can add in defense is try to think about the tone of what's being typed. Sometimes things can come across as abrasive when not intended and no matter how many emoticons are included.

Abso-bloody-lutely...

I hear you on the misinterpretation. It's very hard to convey tone when writing and it does seem I need a lot of practice in making it more clear as I can see how my post was taken the wrong way. It was tongue in cheek but didn't come accompanied with the grin as it would were we in person.

Funnily enough, when I made my last post I was thinking that this is good news, kind of like free horsepower (and twist). I remember when I bought mine they were a few 4.88s on the lot and even a stick shift if I remember correctly. I tow a lot at 20k+ so I wasn't concerned with the mileage but the detune on an already lightly-stressed engine bothered me so I was set on a 4.30s auto. With the 2011 F450 PU having been way lightened up, we've kind of got a keeper on our hands.

Now get yourself a pair of Hanes for the wife's sake
