engine swap
im thinking about bumping up compression a bit to help build power. i found a set of keith black flat top pistons instead of the dish style, the stock compression is around 9:1 i think and hopefully with the flat tops i can bump it up a bit, and bore it 30 over.
then i found a mild crane cam to stick in it. that has longer durations and higher lift than the stocker.
and im hoping to do a bit of a homegrown port and polish on the stock intake to see what i can do.
headers i will probably keep stock, ive had some bad experiences in other vehicles with headers. they always crack on me.

Steve, one more question.
Do you know of other cases where an in-line 6 has been put into the Super Duty? Have you mocked one up? I'm wondering how well the fan and everything will clear because I'm assuming the 300 block is a good bit longer than the 5.4.
Is there plenty of room?
the closest ive heard of someone else doing a swap like this is a cummins swap. im thinking about fabbing up some brackets to move the radiator forward and using electronic fans other than the mechanical fan the 5.9 has just to make sure i have enough clearance for the motor.
hey, whats up yall. I have a 66F-100 with a 352 motor and 3speed manual. I also have 5.4 sohc engine and trans. Thinking about doing a motor swap. Lookin for possible engine mounts thats if i don't have to fab up some new one. The truck now has a twin I-beam drop kit that i dont wanna change. All engine mod kits i found so far were to Fatman ride. I would appreciate any help.
hi, i have a 01 f250 with a 5.4l that has 160k miles on it. i just shot out the second sparkplug in under a year so i have decided that its time for a new motor. i also have a 96 f150 with a 4.9l i6, im thinking about rebuilding the 4.9l and swapping it into the f250. i know its possible to swap the cummins diesel into these trucks i was just wondering if anyone had done anything like this with their trucks.
the truck isnt going to be used for any major hauling anymore just occasional camping trips and hauling hay so with a mild rebuild im sure that a 4.9l will be more than enough for this truck and i dont care that it wont technically meet emissions anymore because they dont test for that in WI.

So the 4.9L would be a good swap. Here is why. The 4.9L inline 6 is a super reliable engine but also a major powerhouse motor. With some simple bolt on item to allow for the engine to breath and including a medium size turbo the 4.9L can produce alittle over 500 hp in power using the stock motor base. Including a major boost in over all fuel economy. 5.4L at best in my f-150 able to hold 16-18 MPG. But with the previously mentioned 4.9L build has the ability of 20-22 MPG.
