Time To build a 08 - 10 Excursion (pics)

Finally picked up an Ex. Its a 2002 V10 with leather 4x4 130,000 miles. I paid $1480 for it and another $700 to $800 to get it home from PA to WI. Now to find a wrecked 08-10 with a 6.4l

That'll be sweet! You should do the '08-'10 front clip as well for the larger fender openings and newer look.

Are you going to try to find a rollover and use the whole frame? I'm sure the length could be adjusted and mounts modded to work, might be easier than swapping everything to the '02 frame.

Plan on buy a roll over. Also plan on cutting the factory welds by the front cross member and swapping it out for the 08 - 10 front frame section. Everything appears to be the same with the frame except for the coil overs.

The frames were changed in '05, but I don't know what all was changed. I thought they changed width slightly, but it could just be frame strength that changed. Using '08 suspension will mean moving the rear spring hangers as well.

I can't imagine that they changed the frame width because the cabs are the same from 99 to 11. If anything the strength has changed and the front suspension. As far as the rear end I will probably just changed the rear end so I have the correct back spacing for the new style wheels. I have a cd with all the frame dimensions, wiring diagrams and all that fun stuff right from ford. Just got to go and print it off and start comparing. Don't think it will be to difficult to figure out.

Definitely move the hangers and use the '08+ rear springs, they ride a lot better. If you want a kit with instructions, PMF makes an '08 rear spring conversion kit.

Was nice to see that F350 come back to life.
It will be great to watch this project progress, granted this is much more involved.

The front subframe looks pretty bad, but not terrible. Since the impact was centered the rest of the frame shouldn't be too bad, little diamond, etc.

By the way it looks I don't think the frame diamond behind the fire wall. Just the front frame rails are pushed around. It looks bad because the front tire is of the rim.
