I just use whatever the dealership is supplied from motorcraft. Every oil change except for maybe 4 at the most have been at the dealer. My service record is a mile long. I think that is a blend that they use. When I originally looked into the v10 I figured at that time I would have to go appx. 190,000 in fuel cost just to break even in difference of the initial price difference of the diesel. That doesn't even count the maintenance cost difference. I don't pull something everyday but I do pull a 16' trailer loaded for long distance pulls often. This is a lot of highway miles but this truck is working almost everyday. I couldn't afford to have a diesel because I would have to add in rental vehicles for all of the break downs. This truck has used a 1/4 of quart of oil every oil change since new and it still does today. Changed every 5,000 with a filter. I think you would be hard pressed to find any work truck that can top this. One thing for sure is that this truck is not pampered as I make sure there is no carbon build up on top of the piston. I've embarrassed more than one person at stop light take off. Hate to see Ford do away with this engine because I don't think the true potential has never been tapped. Never understood why they didn't do the cylinder drop for cruising and get the mileage up in the mid to upper teens. I know these trucks push alot of air but we've already seen what a little program change can do for mileage and power. Could you ever imagine what an expanded v-8 supercharger would do on top of this engine. You would probably need to keep a box of pampers in the truck for passenger when you romped down it. I hope the 6.2 will be as good an engine but I can't see it ever making the power and torque of the v10. I figure I might as well go for 5K because as I said before I would just replace it with another white 250. Thanks

That's great mileage. I've heard similar stories before. I know of several ford V8's and 10's that have been down right abused and are still at or above 200K. Post pics of the odometer if you get a chance!!

Here is the pic of the odometer and just got back from the service earlier this week and I've put a thousand on it. For some reason it says that I can't post attachments. I'm going to check into that. I went out and made a pic so you could see.

You have to have a websight to host the picture and provide a link to it.

This thread just makes me love my V10 that much more. I know it doesn't have the grunt of a diesel, but who cares? It does exactly what I ask it to do and does it quite well. I fully plan on owning this truck until it drops and I have yet to read anything that tells me that will be anytime soon. Also glad to hear you use Motorcraft oil, since that's what I use, although I do my changes at 5K miles. Anyone think that's too long to go? My oil still looks clean at those intervals, so I assume it's fine.

Congrads. The V10 is a great engine. My 99 just passed 330,000. Runs great 1 alternator, 1 a/c compressor, 1 set of coils at 160,000, 1 fan belt at 300,000 just because I wanted to. Spark plugs every 100,000.

And I sold my 99 a month ago with 80 000.
The new owner will have a few miles left it in.....
