Please Help!

Ok, I got what I thought was a really good deal, but obviously this Bronco was not done properly. It,s a 96 that has had a 95 lightning transplant, or at least the intake and heads...cant tell for for sure as i am neither technical, or very mechanical. Anyway, there are obvious a few plugs and things that have been removed and taped up, and mainly the egr spacer is not present. Inside, there is a bolt or something blocking the normal port.
I am not presently near the vehicle, and have kinda let it be my "yard vehicle", but its really nice and I would love to make this an inspected and tagged ride. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I assume I need a lightning harness, or maybe the computer as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate info we can dig up.

First off, if there are EGR and other emissions components completely missing, you have your work cut out for you. The on-board diagnostic and power train control system is so fully integrated into the operation of the engine and emissions that removing and/or bypassing one or more arbitrary components will not do anything but keep the whole system from EVER running properly. You can't get around things that the computer is "expecting" to get information from.

If you want an honest opinion without hearing any further details (even thought I'd like to have a bit more first) I would suggest getting a service manual (Haynes or similar) that covers BOTH models, years, engines that you have in the truck. This way you will be able to reference any differences between the two more readily than finding two trucks with the two setups you have "hybrid" in your truck. Admittedly, the similarities will undoubtedly outweigh the differences but if you can refer to both setups in one volume, well the benefits should be obvious.

The Lightning computer will most likely be necessary. But make sure you don't need anything specific in the main wiring harness that the Lightning engine requires that may not be present in the standard engine harness. (I don't believe this is necessary but since I'm not 100% certain, I put this out there).

First and foremost though, get all of the emissions and control devices that are supposed to be there BACK in there. Without them, you will be fighting an uphill battle and you won't win it.

To paraphrase the local Mercedes technician, there's nothing more expensive than a cheap "Bronco".

If you need any parts for the 95 Stock Bronco set up, I have just parted out 2. I have a complete wiring harness with everything marked, and have all the sensors, computer etc., for the truck. I even have several complete intake set ups for the bronco with the right throttle bodies. Also fuel injection, everything. Let me know if you need anything.
