well....its 11:35 PM and i just got home from trying to put u-joints in my truck......dont ever buy u joints from schucks. i boght the GMB ones.......we were trying to press it in and man it would would NOT go so we took it out, measure the hole and then measured the cap...its was a full tenth of an inch off! so just out of curiosity we measured the other new u-joint i had bought (same exact part number) and it was the right size....go figure. anyways, i am pretty ticked off and am going to get my money back one way or another....im gonna give the salesman two options on how he can take the aprts back....one is in his hand and the other....well the other is with a size 12 boot behind it . anyways, im glad i got to vent this. goodnight all.
I don't know which vintage truck you are talking about but, there are numerous driveshafts that take two different sizes, as per front & back.
Let's hope you weren't trying to put the one in the other.
i too have given up on all csk products except for oil and spark plugs really. my mom has a 90 cadillac that was given to her by her mom when they bought a 2001 caddy. in the span of 3 months i had to put 4 different alternators on there because the other ones were soo cheap. the nut that holds the fan and pulley onto the alternator kept coming loose on each one, we would just take it back and get a new one, until finally my dad and i took our 1/2 drill and just tighted it ourselves. we cvould have over tighted it but it has been almost a year now and no problems. also i went through 3 starters on my brothers chevy truck. and i have gone through 2 on my truck before i put the headers on. people said the headers would damage the startyer but i have yet to have any problems and i still havent out my heat sheild on because of it. fact isd if i need anything i go to napa now.
I learned this lesson a few years ago on my 78. I would go through a GMB at least once a month on my rear driveshaft. Now I only use spicer and they hold up fine.
