69 boss head

I would be surprised if anybody could help me with this one. I need a single 69 boss 302 head. I need to know where I can get one. This is why. I bought my heads from semo mustang several years ago. I rebuilt my motor last year. When I originally bought these heads from semo one had a crack in it. I bought a set of 69 boss heads. I sent the cracked one back and they sent me a 1970 head in exchange. I phoned them they told me that they where the same. So After I had my heads redone last year (new screw in studs, guide plates, stainless one piece valves, roller rockers etc) I found out that the cc chambers are slightly off which frustrated me cause semo mustang said I should have known that and that they aren't responsable. Any way I am running the engine the way it is but I hate it. Cause I have spent a lot of $$$ on this motor but I wan't to fix it asap. So any feed back would be apreciated. thanks Bob

I know Dennis at www.dscmotorsport.com can get you one. I don't know if he has any readily available or how much it costs though.

Have you thought about having the heads matched with some bowl work? I know that means you have to take the engine apart again to have more maching work done but it is worth a thought.

I am looking for another 69 head. I have some posts on some other boards. I don't really like the idea about grinding out the combustion chamber. then there is the problem of the 70 head having a slightly smaller runner. grrrr. Anyway I will try and find another 69 head then sell my 70 on ebay. just means I will have to do machine work to the new 69 head. Thanks Bob.

Ford downsized the Boss heads in 1970 becaused they realized the ports/valves were TOO BIG for street use (read too unresponsive). I guess it depends on what you are looking for...if you want a number matching car to make it worth more keep the 69 heads, if you want maximum street HP, responsiveness, and want to go toe-to-toe with other Mfg's muscle cars of the same vintage I'd put my money in the 1970 Boss head.
