You said that already in post #38. Nice truck rebuild pics.

Remember, the OP says he has no money, so even if he could get a Rolls-Merlin for free, it would make no sense to take out a functioning powertrain and end up with a half done, disabled vehicle and no money to finish the job.....call me silly.

1st off..... Why? Personally, keep the models the same(engine, drive-train, etc) otherwise be a mechanic in Mexico, or here in Kuwait for that matter... Hodgies here are stupid insane when it comes to making ***** work, but once they touch a vehicle it is now = crap!!
2nd... Should not be surprised you got some flak from this crowd, I can understand Dr Danger's point. Granted your want to try new things, but that doesn't mean everyone will want it..... look at Obama ~ nuff said.
3rd.... I absolutely LOVE THAT COMMERCIAL !!!!!!!!!! (kudos dohc_dump)

Dredging the depths for entertainment are we? No other reason to bump a 7 year old thread with an insult.

That's probably true. Not to stereotype, but a red Corvette involved in a highway pileup probably means he/she was the cause of the accident. Usually Corvettes end up fatally rear-ending someone...

corvettes are like mustangs or vipers. an accident just waiting to happen when a low performance driver gets behind the seat.

I think it's a great idea..Chevy inline six works great if in good shape..The 194 ( 230-250 ) moved the early 60's Chevy trucks just fine..The 300-6 Ford is a serious industrial monster. As it moved dump trucks. But might be more than you need for basic commuting and occasional light hauling..I am pretty happy with the GM engine & Muncie/ Hurst simplicity..Can't say the same for the body style of the GM trucks..Just a matter of finding out what hoops you have to jump through then you can put the conversion kits together . I never cared for the extra expense & labor with a "V" engine..I never once had had timing gear issues with an inline six in 50 years. But V engines were always a guarantee for a timing chain whammy.More gas.Double heads, double exhaust system. .Not into racing but the Muncie & Hurst sure made it fun to drive. That alone was the definition of THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, FREEDOM & LIBERTY..Life in America is not as good without it for me..I had great times with that little 194 with a Muncie & Hurst behind it.Get your suspension right..Will be like a sportscar...They don't make pistons for the 194 anymore..The Ford Vulcan 3.0 V6 is not too far off. It comes out at around 183 cubic inches. And a very overlooked engine..Would be great in street rods. Model A's , , 30's hot rod builds..We need conversion bellhousing for those and intake manifolds..Conversion swap mounts, etc...Pursuit of happiness is doing what you love ..FREEDOM & LIBERTY is having the right to do it and not being forced to buy & drive what a dictatorship mandates..I never signed up for front wheel drive & metrics..

The Chevy 350 is one of the all time best engines ever produced. I had one in my Chevy half ton and it had over 300k on it when I sold it and was still tight. I see no crime in mixing and matching parts. Lots of Chevy enthusiasts like the Ford 9" rear end. Have fun!
